2020 RWISA RISE UP TOUR BANNER

Welcome to our 2nd RWISA “RISE-UP” TOUR!

Because of the current state of the world where we are faced with a pandemic like none has ever seen before, where homelessness, hunger, job losses, and world-wide lock-downs are the norm, we wanted to give you a glimpse into our world as we are now living it.

Since we are also in the month of May, when Mothers should be celebrated even more than they should be every day, some of us are going to reflect upon our lives without our moms.  Yes, we have two themes this year!

For 14 days we invite you here to the RWISA site to enjoy, engage and to become enlightened – awakened even to the many plights of our communities and to share in our memories and sorrows as we navigate our world without the moms who brought us into it.  Hopefully, in some of these stories, you will be compelled to also RISE UP and share your story, in hopes of making someone else’s day brighter and their load a little lighter.

Come … journey with us!

LYRICS

You’re broken down and tired
Of living life on a merry go round
And you can’t find the fighter
But I see it in you so we gonna walk it out
And move mountains
We gonna walk it out
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I’ll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I’ll rise unafraid
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
And I’ll rise up
High like the waves
I’ll rise up
In spite of the ache
I’ll rise up
And I’ll do it a thousand times again
For you
For you
For you
For you
When the silence isn’t quiet
And it feels like it’s getting hard to breathe
And I know you feel like dying
But I promise we’ll take the world to its feet
And move mountains
We’ll take it to its feet
And move mountains
And I’ll rise up
I’ll rise like the day
I’ll rise up
I’ll rise unafraid
I’ll rise up
And…

  3. This was an inspirational blog tour replete with heartfelt posts about the pandemic we are all dealing with as well as beautiful reflections about mothers and their importance to us all. Nonnie capped the tour off perfectly with her elegy on the struggle and agony that isolation can create within us. A memorable journey!

  4. This song is beautiful. It means something different for me. I lost my husband in 2018 and my son in 2019. It is so fitting for my feelings. Thank you for sharing.

  6. Nonnie, thank you for your hard work. Your contribution for RWISA on this last day was definitely from the heart and so very meaningful. The work from each RWISA author was valuable in their thoughts, insights, memories, and fears. In a marathon it is all about reaching the end and then enjoying every step of the journey. Life is like that as is reading the RWISA tour for 2020.

Thank you Harriet Hodgson, D.L. Finn, Jan Sikes, Robert Fear, P.T.L. Perrin, Joy Nwosu Lo-Bamijoko, Wendy Scott, Yvette Calleiro, Heather Kindt, Maura Beth Brennan, Peggy Hattendorf, and Nonnie Jules (last but not least) for providing thoughts to consider and reread often.

    • Maura Beth, you are very welcome! IT was my pleasure and my honor to ensure that this event was pushed heavily and that the contributions from all the others here were noticed. These people (including you) are amazing and I hope that everyone who followed the tour walked away with something that inspired them or touched them in some meaningful way.

    • Patty, I’m so glad to hear that you have enjoyed the tour! We here at RRBC & RWISA just love to give writers plenty of opportunities to do what writers should be doing the most, and that is constantly writing! It is only with that practice that we get better and better and growth is seen! RWISA does get a few more of these opportunities, but, RRBC gets them just the same. I find the ones that take part the most even within RRBC, are the RWISA writers!

Here’s to hoping that more of our awesome RRBC members become more engaged in our great opportunities to showcase their writing!

      Thanks, Patty!

  11. Wendy, what a story! I love it. The way this pandemic shut down the world could be a foreshadowing of a society like the one in your story. But then the pansy… I can see it developing into an awesome dystopian novel. Any chance?

  15. This tour is exciting. I think we writers RISE UP with our words. Sharing them helps others rise up too. I just finished reading Jan’s post about her mom, and wow. We women are amazingly strong and resilient. RISE UP and feel our strength.

    • Hi, Wendy. Thank you for your comment. My sister and I have had had the idea of co-writing a novel together about Mom and Dad’s life, but we haven’t found the right time and place to work on it. We would need to do a retreat – just her and I – and write it! Maybe someday!
